Tackling Climate Change

Offset Ethically with CarbonAided

Putting the D into CDM
Acquiring Carbon Finance for Development Projects
A workshop in London on 15th June 2009 for those thinking about participating in carbon projects with social benefits to help understand them better.
We all contribute to climate change and therefore we must all take steps to understand and reduce our carbon footprint.

CarbonAided's approach to tackling climate change is summarised below:

  1. Understand your carbon footprint. As a first step you should calculate the GHG emissions that you create. See carbon footprinting help for business.
  2. Avoid and Reduce. Once you know your carbon footprint you can take action to avoid and reduce your GHG emissions. Solutions will include recycling, using less energy and renewables and will frequently save you money. See carbon abatement help for business and individuals.
  3. Offsetting. Most people and businesses find that they can reduce their GHG emissions only so far. This is a problem as far more significant reductions in GHG emissions are required to address global climate change. The use of verified emission savings created by robust green projects to "offset" some or all remaining emissions helps to deliver more significant reductions in global GHG emissions. See our guide to responsible offsetting for further information
  4. Supporting Climate Change Adaptation. It is important to both take significant action to reduce GHG emissions and to recognise that climate change is already happening. In recognition of the fact that the poor of the world are suffering the worst consequences of global climate change - including increased frequency of floods and drought - CarbonAided is actively involved in raising charitable donations to fund projects that help the poor of the world to adapt to global climate change.
